Roger K. Everson

Roger K. Everson, 84, of Rockford, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at PA Peterson Center for Health. Born May 11, 1929, in Rockford, the son of Lavern "Slim" and Evelyn (Cunningham) Everson. He graduated from East High School. In 1948, he married Bettie J. Turkelson in Sycamore. Roger worked as a planner at Southwest Forest Industries and later ran Everson Grocery in Cherry Valley. He was a member of Alpine Lutheran Church as well as the Moose Club, where he bowled on their leagues.

Roger is survived by his wife, Bettie; son, Larry (Jeanne) Everson; daughters, Linda Fichtner and Laura Latta; granddaughters, Kelli, Sarah, Teresa and Amy; great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Gariel, Evan, Colin, Ezra, Layney and Callie. Predeceased by his parents and son, Loren.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2014 at Alpine Lutheran Church, 5001 Forest View Avenue. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family for a memorial to be established in Roger's name at a later date.
