Rolland D. Payne

Rolland D. Rolly Payne, 69, of Rockford passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2009 in his home. Born October 15, 1939 in Bayard, Nebraska, the son of John Andrew Jack Payne and Mildred Lucille (Lambert) Krusemeier. He married Lois Alexander in Scotts Bluff, NE and June 17, 1964. Over the years, Rolland worked for Rockford Products and Ingersoll Milling Machine Co. He also drove a school bus for the Rockford School District and prior to his retirement in 1998, he owned Paynes Western Gift Shop. He was a member of Halsted Road Baptist Church. Rolland loved the outdoors and going camping. Above all, he loved being with his family and friends- especially his grandchildren. Rolland is survived by his wife Lois, children Mike Payne, Rick Payne, Laura Payne and Scott (Barb) Payne. Grandchildren Amber, Wendy, Brandon, Matthew, Josh, Seth and Eli. Great-grandchildren Malachi, Keion, Heavenly, Anthony and one more baby to be born in December. Brother Richard (Linda) Payne, brother-in-law Donald Paquette, numerous nieces and nephews, his best friends John and Sheila Van Leeuwen and neighbors and his loyal dog Fluffy. Predeceased by his parents and step-father Ralph Krusemeier. Sister Violet Paquette and brother Dale Payne. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in Halsted Road Baptist Church, 3326 Halsted Rd., Rockford, IL with Pastor Jerry Demond officiating. A memorial visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. in the church Thursday until the time of service. In lieu of flowers?
