Ronald G. "Ron" Scanlan, 77 of Rockford passed away Friday, September 4, 2009 in Rockford Memorial Hospital of Parkinsons related pneumonia. Born August 6, 1932 in Indianapolis, IN, the son of Carl and Margaret (Michael) Scanlan. He married Dalia "Jo" Jameikis in 1980. Ron served in the Army Air Corps during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated Scanlan Auto Repair for 48 years. He loved his 1932 Vintage Ford cars and WWII Vintage Aircrafts, but above all Ron loved his family. He was a board member of the Automotive Service Association on the National, State and Local levels, active member of AA for 31 years, an important member of the Rockford Parkinsons Support Group and on the board of directors at Rock Valley College Automotive Department. Ron is survived by his wife, children Michael (Diane) Scanlan, William "Bill" Scanlan, Kathleen Brooks, Kelly (Manny Bedi) Scanlan and Stephanie "Stevie" (Noel) Penisten. Grandchildren Rachel Scanlan and Bridget Penisten. He was predeceased by his parents. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Vincent Racanelli and VNA hospice. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a Memorial at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2009 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S.
