Ronald Kenneth Green, 80, Rockford, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 2, 2012, in his home surrounded by his loving family.nbsp; He was born September 2, 1932, in Quincy, the son of Kenneth Emerson and Ermal Pauline (Taylor) Green. He served in the Army from 1954 to 1956.nbsp; Ron married Carol Sweezy in Lebanon, Indiana on April 11, 1986.nbsp;nbsp; Ron worked as Director of Financial Aid at Southern Illinois University and then at the University of Oklahoma. He was then Director of Graduate Admissions at Illinois State University and was director of Pioneer Center for Substance Abuse for 18 years. He was Director of Development for Crosspointnbsp; Human Services until his retirement in 1993.nbsp; He moved to Rockford and came out of retirement as Director of Development for the Rockford Literacy Council. Ron loved fishing, was a member of Rockford Hawg Hunters, enjoyed nbsp;boating and was a part time actor in such shows as Soul Food and the TV series, Early Edition.nbsp; Ron was an active member of Rotary serving as past President of the Danville Rotary and a longtime member of the Rockford Rotary Club serving as Assistant Treasurer.

Survived by his wife, Carol; daughters, Susan (Robert) Blaese of Barrington, Karen (Jim) Townsend of Schaumburg, and Kelly (Mosezell) Magee of Arlington, Texas; son, James (Diana) Sweezy of Joppa, Alabama; 12 grandchildren, David (J.R.), Jeremy (Maggie), Ashley, Jonathan, William, Myra, Emily, Kayla, Jonathan, Joseph, Dillon, and Rebecca; greatgranddaughter, Grayson; several cousins including, Berta Clemmons.nbsp; Predeceased by his parents and his aunt, Virginia Ginny Requet.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00 pm Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with a memorial gathering from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lifescape Community Services, 705 Kilburn Av., the Rockford Rotary Charitable Association, c/o Thomas Scoville, Harris Bank, 501 7 th St. or a charity of donors choice.nbsp; Share online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.nbsp;
