Ronald "Ronnie" A. Stone

Ronald A. Stone, 72, of Rockford, passed away in his home on April 21, 2023. Born in Rockford on May 6, 1949, son to Milton and Susie (Mitchell) Stone. After graduation from Auburn High School, Ronald was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1969 and spent time in Vietnam where he earned the nickname “Shakey.” After returning home he started work at a gas station, and that was influential to starting his career with Rock Valley Oil where he worked his way up to management before retirement in 2014.

He is survived by his brother Ray Stone; his nieces and nephews Terri (Brian) Griffin, Raymond (Christine) Stone, Andy Lockner and Andrea Lockner; grand nieces and nephews Justin Gifford, Kayla Stone, Kaitlyn Stone and Cody Firmon. He is predeceased by his siblings Norman Stone, Patricia (Andrew “Bud”) Lockner and sister-in-law Nancy Stone; his niece, Kim Firmon.
