ROSE MARIE PALOMBI, 78, Rockford, died at 12:01 a.m., Tuesday, August 21, 2007 in her home.nbsp; Born September 24, 1928 in Gotham, WI., daughter of Frank and Mary Savage Suda. Graduated from Dodgeville, WI. High School and Rock Valley College School of Nursing. Rockford resident since 1947.nbsp; Married Ross G. Palombi at St. Anthony Church in Rockford on July 31, 1948. Employed as a nurse at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, as a private duty nurse, retiring from Rockford Clinic in 1999.nbsp; Following retirement she volunteered for the Winnebago County Health Department doing immunizations.nbsp; Member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Catholic Womens League.nbsp; Rose Marie loved cooking, especially baking cookies with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful, creative gardener who had a special touch with African violets.nbsp; Her main focus was always her family who she cared for, loved and cherished. nbsp; Survivors include her husband, Ross; children, Diane Tegard, Rockford, Susan (Rick) Pearce, Rockford, Mary Ellen (Jack Sowinski) Palombi, Willowbrook, Michael Palombi, Rockford and John (Deborah) Palombi, St. Louis, MO.; grandchildren, Heather (John) Sullivan, Holly Palombi, Patrick Tegard, Jocelyn Carter, Katie Carter, Michael Palombi, John Palombi and Emily Palombi; great-grandchildren, Lexi Carter and Jack and Neve Sullivan; sister, Joan (Paul) Walsh, Tyler, TX and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.nbsp; Predeceased by her parents. nbsp; Special thanks to Dr. Richard Nora and the staff at OSF St. Anthony Center for Cancer Care for their compassionate and dignified care. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 24, 2007 in Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Andrew C. Hougan officiating.nbsp; Private family burial in Scandinavian Cemetery.nbsp; Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until time of the service at the the church on Friday.nbsp; Memorials may be made to the family for an educational fund to be established.nbsp; Arrangements were made by Fitzgerald Funeral Home amp; Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S.
