Ruby E. Morrow

Ruby E. Morrow, 94, Belvidere, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012, in the home of her daughter surrounded by her loving family. She was born July 9, 1918, in Exline, Iowa, the daughter of Gustaf and Clella (Streeter) Sundeen. Ruby married Leslie F. Morrow on August 17, 1940, in Exline, Iowa. He passed away on March 13, 1990. She worked as a clerk at Driggs Jewelry in Moline, and later at J.C. Penny Co. in downtown Rockford. Ruby was a longtime member of Harlem United Methodist Church. Captain of her basketball team while in high school, she continued her love of the sport as she watched her granddaughter, Nicole play. Ruby was an avid reader and she spent many hours volunteering at Barbara Olson School of Hope and Sheltered Workshop. Survived by her daughter, Gail (Bernd) Messner of Belvidere; granddaughter, Nicole Messner of Seattle, WA; cousins, Charlotte Thorn and Dennis Streeter; nieces and nephews, Nancy (John) McKee, Jan (Dan) Alvarado, Norman (Debbie) Sundeen, Stacey Reynolds, Jeffrey (Theresa) Sundeen, Pam (Dan) Wright, Lynn (Bob) Cox, Brett Leslie James, and Sherry (Ken) Fisk; lifelong friend, Jacquetta Caldwell and other long time friends, Jo Emerick and Betty Parks. Predeceased by her husband, Leslie; daughter, Gloria; brothers, Chester, Norman, and Robert Sundeen and infant sister, Rosa Sundeen. Special thank you to a wonderful caregiver and friend, Jenae Rezin.Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Monday, July 23, 2012, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Av. Burial in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Sunday, July 22, 2012, at the funeral home and from 10:00 am until time of service on Monday.
