Russell Bambino Jr., 59, of Rockford, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011 in his home surrounded by his family.He was born October 12, 1952 in Rockford; son of Russell and Nancy (Montalbano) Bambino.He worked for Warner Lambert for many years retiring in 2001.Member of St. Anthony Church.Graduated from St. Anthony Grade School and Boylan High School, Class of 1970.Russell coached baseball at Roy Gayle for 30 years.He was also known as the Godfather of St. Elizabeth Baseball.Russ influenced and loved all his kids.Survivors include his two sons, Russell Bambino, III of Chicago and John (Erin Laemmrich) Bambino of Chicago; his partner, Linda Voyles of Rockford; former wife, Deborah Bambino; brother, Frank (Brenda) Bambino of Rockford; sister, Angela Romain of Arizona; aunt, Martha Dauenbaugh of Rockford; stepdaughter, Danielle Morris; stepgrandchildren, Alex and Caleb and many nieces, nephews and cousins.Predeceased by his parents, and brother, Lorenzo.Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Friday, November 18, 2011 in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with the Franciscan Friars officiating.Visitation at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel from 4pm until 8pm Thursday November 17.Visitation also from 9am until time of service Friday at the church.In lieu of flowers, memorials to be established by the family.
