Ruth L. Marinaro

Ruth L. (Ramsby) Marinaro, 96, of Rockford, passed away June 3, 2012 in Alden Alma Nelson. She was born March 9, 1916 in Kirkland, IL; daughter of Frank and Blanche (Taylor) Ramsby. She married Charles J. Marinaro in Rockford on June 22, 1940. Ruth started her work career at National Lock. She then worked for BVR Inc retiring in 1976. She and Charlie were active with the Retired Teamsters; they ran the bingo night for many years. She graduated from Rockford Central High School. Former member of St. Mary Church. Ruth loved nature, especially plants, flowers and animals, including, but not limited to her recent favorite cats: Weezy and Buddy. Ruth was a spectacular cook; her specialties were pasta with country ribs, delicious gravy always, but especially at Thanksgiving. Survivors include her three children, James (Georgia) Marinaro, David Marinaro and Janice (Tom) Powers; soninlaw, Dennis Quayle, all of Rockford; grandchildren, Carmen (Kurt) Nondorf, Gina (Mark) Midthun, Matt (Carrie) Marinaro, Dana Marinaro (Gary Mlinarich), Lisa Quayle, Elizabeth Quayle, Michael Quayle, Alan Marinaro, Angela Marinaro (Bob Wittmann) and Michael Powers; 10 greatgrandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, husband, Charles, in 2005; daughter, Judith (Judee) Quayle in 2011; brothers, Alvin (Pete) and Ralph Ramsby and sister, Ginger Nelson. Funeral Mass at 10:00am Friday, June 8, 2012 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation from 5pm until 7pm Thursday in Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1860 S. Mulford Road with Rosary recited at 7pm. Visitation also from 9am until 9:45 Friday in the church. Memorials may be made to the family.
