Sally M. Cassaro

October 1, 1942 — April 9, 2013

Sally Marie Cassaro, 70, Rockford, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 9, 2013, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 1, 1942, in Rockford, the daughter of Chester and Vivian (Steffa) Paeglow. Sally married Michael Cassaro in Rockford on August 18, 1962. She was employed as a Sales Administration Supervisor at Barber-Coleman Company for many years. Sally was a member of Riverside Community Church. She was a member of the Lake Arrowhead Association in Nekoosa, Wisconsin. Sally was a great woman. She was a wonderful wife, companion, mother, and friend to us. She could light up a room with her presence. Sally had a great personality, quick wit, marvelous sense of humor, and a very practical approach to life. It is her life that we celebrate even though she has left us. We shared many wonderful memories during our 50 years of marriage, especially our travels to Wisconsin, Florida, and Las Vegas. These memories will remain a beacon of light on the path of my life. Special thanks to the staff at Northern Illinois Hospice and Grief Center, especially Sue, Julie, and Mary, Drs. Edwards, Andrews, and Kent, and the staff at SwedishAmerican Hospital for their kind and compassionate care during Sally’s illness. Survived by her husband, Michael; son, Jeff (Cathy) Cassaro of Belvidere; daughter, Jennifer (Dan) Petcoff of North Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Kelsey, Josh and Jake Cassaro, Alyssa and Stella Petcoff; brother, Rich (Sally) Paeglow of Rockton; several nieces and nephews including her special niece, Janet Poff. Predeceased by her parents; step-mother, Martine; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Peter and Antonette “Nina” Cassaro. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 13, 2013, at Riverside Community Church, 6816 N. Second St. Machesney Park, with Reverend Bobby Sheets officiating. Burial in Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation from noon until time of service at the church. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd.
