Salvatore "Sam" Caruana

Salvatore "Sam" Caruana, 76, of Rockford passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore, Illinois. Born July 11, 1938, in Aragona, Sicily, the son of Alfonso and Giuseppina (Terrana) Caruana. He was a trucker for Twin Disk Clutch for 22 years. Sam loved gardening, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. His infectious laugh will be remembered forever.
Survived by his wife, Gina; siblings, Rosario (Alfonsa) Caruana of Montreal, Canada, Lina (Carl) Chiria of Montreal, Canada, Angelo Caruana of South Beloit and Tony (Brenda) Caruana of Rockford; sister-in-law, Anna Marie Caruana and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Alfonso and Giuseppina and brother, Carl Caruana.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Road. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 South Mulford Road. Entombment in Sunset Mausoleum.
