Sam Guarino

Sam J. Guarino, 92, of Rockford passed away Monday, May 4, 2015 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born September 7, 1922, in Rockford, the son of Joseph and Josephine (LaSalla) Guarino. Sam was a veteran serving in the United States Army during World War II in 1942 to 1946. He married Geraldine T. Salamone on June 1, 1946 in Rockford. Sam worked at Rockford Products as a machinist for 34 years, retiring in 1985. He loved sports and was a true handyman, always fixing things around the house.
Survived by his wife, Geraldine; sons, James Guarino, Joseph (Charlene) Guarino and David Guarino; granddaughter, Samantha Guarino; brother, Jay (Anita) Guarino and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and siblings, Nick Guarino, Josephine Baldridge and Lillian Joy.
Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 2015 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S Mulford Road. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home. Entombment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.
