Samuel G. Scalia 81 Samuel G. Scalia 81 of Rockford passed away at 2:30 am on April 2, 2010 in Rosewood Care Center. Born September 19, 1928 in Chicago, IL. The son of George and Josephine Laudicina Scalia. He came to Rockford in 1960 from South Beloit. He married Theresa M. Cassaro in St Anthony Church on September 6, 1952. She predeceased him on April 25, 2001. He then married Frances Marie Salamone Schiro on September 14, 2002.He worked for the Rockford Board of Education as a building engineer for 28 years. He retired in 1988. Member of St Patrick Church, Long time volunteer at Rockford Memorial Hospital for over 20 years. He lived for his children and grandchildren.Survivors include his wife Frances, Children; George (Sandie) Scalia of Burnsville, MN, JoAnn (Patrick) Schleicher of Roscoe, Charlotte (Daniel) Murphy of Rockford and Michael (Rachel) Scalia of Rockton. Step Daughters Francine (Lee) Barrie and Anna (Henry) Hauch. Grandchildren; Andrew (Pam), Douglas (Stacey), Robert (Melissa), Rebecca (Eric), Sarah Maria (Julio), Daniel (Jennifer), Angela (Eli), Diana (Joe), Christopher, Anthony, Alexis and five step-grandchildren. Great grandchildren; Alyssa, Liliana, Sammy, Madelyn, Gabriella and five Step Great grandchildren. Brother and Sister Josephine (Tom) Milone, Vito (Irene) ScaliaPredeceased by his parents, wife and sister Lucille(Joe).Mass of Resurrection at 10am Wednesday April 7, 2010 in St Patrick Catholic Church. Burial in Willwood Burial Park. Visitation from 5-7pm Tuesday in Fitzgerald Funeral Home 1860 S. Mulford Rd. and from 9am until time of service Wednesday in the church.
