Samuel Lowell Baker

Samuel Lowell Baker, 70, Belvidere, died suddenly, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, March 25, 2013 in Rockford, IL. Surviving Sam is his wife of 50 years, Kathy (Craddick) Baker. Survivors also include his three children, Bill Baker of Winnebago, Cathie (David) O’Malley and Jim Baker of Belvidere; brothers, Joe Baker and Jerry Baker of Rockford, John (Pauline) Baker of Branson, MO; sister, Sue (Paul) Marinaro of Binghamton, NY; his treasured grandchildren, Rebecca O”Malley, Stephanie O’Malley, Samantha Baker and Bennett Baker. Preceding him in death were his parents, Myron and Gertrude Baker. Sam’s greatest loves were his family and the outdoors. After graduating from St. Thomas High School in 1960 he worked for nearly 40 years before retiring from Lucent Technologies. Sam spent his retirement years watching his grandchildren’s athletic events and traveling with his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2013 in Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with a rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. Visitation also from 9:00 a.m. until time of the Mass at the church on Monday. Private family burial will take place at a later date.
