Sharon L. Hendrickson

November 22, 1956 — January 30, 2021

Sharon L. (Alms) Hendrickson, 64, lifelong resident of Rockford, passed away suddenly on January 30, 2021. Sharon was welcomed by loving parents, Evelyn and Alvin Alms on November 22, 1956 in Rockford, Illinois and has joined them in Heaven. Sharon graduated from Boylan Central Catholic High School in 1974 and attended Rock Valley College. She appreciated her employment at Gannett Newspapers and the friendships nurtured there. Sharon relished her retirement and the opportunity to spend time with family and friends. Her favorite hobbies included crocheting, reading and traveling. Sharon enjoyed helping the Gabel family plan the family reunions. She was actively involved in the planning committee for the Victory Lap Brunch for many years. She enjoyed her dear friendships with Cathy Molander and Andrea Elder, which started when their young children began school.

She will be missed by those who loved her most, her daughter, Sarah (Donald) Tillery and her three precious grandchildren, Isabella, Olivia and Gabriella; her siblings, Dennis (Karen) Alms, Doris (Dave) Ullrich, Margaret Woollacott, Connie (John) Spataro, Jerry (Paula) Alms, and Donna Alms. As well as eight nieces and nephews who enjoyed her generous heart and fun-loving spirit, they include Robin (Phil) Baer, Carrie (Jonathan) Welter, Brian Spataro, Nichole (Nick) LaBansky, Devin Alms, Tucker Alms and Michael Strauss. Also remembered by eleven great-nieces and great-nephews. Sharon is predeceased by her former husband, Eino Hendrickson, Jr., father and mother-in-law, Eino (Helen) Hendrickson, Sr., sister-in-law, Carol Hagans and brother-in-law, Jim Woollacott.

A special thank you to sister-in-law, Annie Hendrickson and nephew, Johnny Olton for your friendship and humor over the years. Sharon, may Jim carry you gently in his canoe to your final resting place, with the wind at your back and the sun warm upon your face. Rest in peace cherished mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Your integrity, generosity and companionship will forever be missed.

Memorial visitation will be held from 1:00 – 3:00pm Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL with a 3:00 p.m. memorial service to follow. Masks and social distancing will be required.
