Shirley M. Ryan

Shirley M. Ryan, 91, Rockford, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2012. She was born in Glen Ellyn, IL. on March 27, 1921; the daughter of William and Jennie (Gleason) Fox. Shirley came to Rockford to attend Beauty School and met the love of her life, Roger. They were married and together they made Rockford their home. She enjoyed NAT with Alice Saudargas, and spending time with her family and her friends. She had a passion for flowers, her special cats and her beagles. She especially loved the holidays and decorating the house. Shirleys final years were spent in Winnebago at Prairie View Assisted Living where she was among friends and loved playing bingo. Shirley is survived by her sons, Tim (Bev) Ryan and Steve (Sherry) Ryan; grandchildren, Sean Ryan, Joshua (Reesa) Ryan, Amanda (Jon) Allen, Jennifer Ryan and Paul Ryan; niece, Julie Newquist; nephews, Michael (Alta) Ryan and James (Lucy) Ryan, as well as, many grand nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; husband, Roger; brother, Fredrick Fox. The family would like to thank all of the staff and residents at Prairie View Assisted Living, Heartland Hospice and Mrs. Gail Biermann for their compassionate and loving care. Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 3, 2012 at United Lutheran Church, 3630 Rockton Ave. with Pastor Krista Zimmerman officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at Church. Burial in Willwood Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to United Lutheran Church.
