Shirwayne B. Smith

February 3, 1963 — May 24, 2013

Shirwayne B. Smith, 50, lifelong Rockford resident died Friday, May 24, 2013 in Swedish American Hospital. Born February 3, 1963, daughter of Roy and Florence Stormont. Attended East High School and married Frank E. Smith on June 27, 1986. She had formerly been employed by Farm & Fleet for several years and was presently employed by the Rockford School District at McIntosh School. She was a faithful member of Lincolnwood Baptist Church. Shirwayne would light up a room when she entered it and had a heart bigger than life. She was a great cook and was especially known for being one of the best "one-liners" in town. One of her greatest achievements, however, was being the 6 year winner of a difficult, personal battle.

Survivors include her husband, Frank; daughters, Nicole and Megan Smith; 2 sisters-in-law; 2 brothers-in-law; several nieces and nephews, cousins and good friends. She was devoted to her dog Bella who brought her much enjoyment. The family would like to especially thank Jason Martin, Blake Pitney, David and Elizabeth Mullen and the entire Mullen family, Pastor Herman and Ann Brown and Shirwayne's Lincolnwood Baptist Church family. Predeceased by her parents.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2013 in Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with Rev. Herman Brown officiating. Visitation from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Express condolences and share memories at www.fitzgeraldfh.com.
