October 22, 1952 — March 4, 2019

Stephen D. Baker, of Rockford, passed away on March 4, 2019 at SwedishAmerican Hospital after going into cardiac arrest at work. He was lovingly cared for by the wonderful 1st Aid Team at MTE Hydraulics.

Born October 22, 1952 in Atkinson, NE, the son of Ivan and Mary Jane (Moler) Baker. He enjoyed working with the caring staff at MTE Hydraulics for many years. Steve loved the great outdoors. He loved walking onto the unbeaten paths in the woods and with his beloved dogs, Reese and Big Al. Steve also enjoyed working with numbers & lived through 24,238 days, 820 Full Moons & 27 Blue Moons. He graduated from Marengo High School and Northern Illinois University. He spent his boyhood working and playing on the family farm in Atkinson, NE, until moving to Marengo in 1969.

Survivors include his 2 daughters, Kelly & Sarah Baker; 2 grandchildren, Kayla & Kristian; siblings, Maxine (Bruce) Stanton, Jean Craig, Dan (Jeanne) Baker & Elizabeth "Betty" Baker; numerous nieces & Nephews, great nieces & nephews; aunt, Lavonna Appleby. Predeceased by his parents, grandparents, brother, Joseph, former wife, Jane Baker, nieces, Lori Lidgett and Lisa Thomjack, brother-in-law, Allen Craig and numerous aunts & uncles.

Private viewing held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Mulford Chapel. Celebration of Life Service will be held in Atkinson, NE on May 25, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at Seger Funeral Home followed by mass at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Atkinson, NE. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
