Susan M. Newsome

January 13, 1944 — September 17, 2022

Susan (Sue) Newsome, 78, of Rockford, IL passed away September 17th, 2022 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. She was born January 13th, 1944 in Rockford, IL to Russell and Genevieve Sage. Sue married her high school sweetheart Ken Newsome of Rockford on October 22nd, 1966 and became a devoted wife, mother and friend to so many. Sue loved helping others and being around people. She was a wonderful organizer and worked at Greenlee as well as Newsome-Sjostrom Realtors as office administrator. She had a ‘gift of gab’ and frequently put it to good use by befriending so many throughout her entire life. Sue also loved creating special ‘comfort foods’ that her family and friends enjoyed so much. She especially enjoyed volunteering at various community organizations; Rockford Women’s Club, The Literacy Council and St. Anne Place where she was President of the Auxiliary, Special Events Coordinator and operated the gift shop for 15 years.

A loving wife, mother, sister and Nana—Sue made countless friends who will always remember her as kind, caring and generous. Sue will be deeply missed by those who loved her most, her husband Ken of Rockford, IL, sister Sharon Beard of Surprise, AZ, sister in-law Linda (Brad) Lundberg of Eugene, OR, son Chad (Susan) Newsome of Colleyville, TX, daughter Mindy (Larry) Kuehne of Roscoe, IL; her grandchildren Keaton and Ana Newsome, Corbin and Coltin Kuehne; nephews Mark, Matt and Doug McConnell and nieces Neisha Strait and Jamie Beronja . Sue is predeceased by her parents Russell and Genevieve Sage.

Per Sue’s wishes, there will be no services. However, a celebration of life will be scheduled at a future date.
