Theresa Marie Powers

Theresa Marie Powers, 93, Rockford, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2014, at Emeritus of Rockford. She was born July 16, 1921, in Rockford, the daughter of Carlo and Pierina (Macchi) Colombo. Theresa married Harry L. Powers in Rockford on August 29, 1952. He passed away March 23, 2011. She was a long time member of St. Edward Catholic Church and a member of the Verdi Club Women’s Auxiliary.
Survived by her son, Thomas (Janice) Powers of Rockford; her daughter, Carol (Kevin) Prunty of Amboy; her grandchildren, Rachel (Jon) Cukjati and Mary Prunty; her great-grandchildren, Scarlet Prunty, Ember and Rowan Cukjati; her brother, John (Alice) Colombo of Louisville, KY; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and her special cousin, Joanne Nelson and family. Predeceased by her grandson, Michael Powers; her brothers, Charlie and Donald Colombo; and her special cousin, Mary Provasi. Special thanks to the staff at Emeritus, Heartland Hospice, and her friend Helen Eckhart for their kindness and compassion.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, November 17, 2014, at St. Edward Catholic Church, 3004 11th St. Rockford. Entombment in Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford with the Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. Monday at the church.
