Tony G. Steward

Tony G. Steward, 74, of Oregon, IL, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on April 9, 1947, the son of Thomas and Novella (Harper) Steward. He married the love of his life, Jan Rubly on December 19, 1995 in Las Vegas.

Tony was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the United States Army. He retired from Sundstrand, Rockford after 34 years.

Tony was an avid golfer. While he enjoyed playing at several courses, most days you would see him at Silver Ridge Golf Course, Oregon, where he formed many friendships through the years. Tony had a generous heart and loving personality. He was always helping friends and neighbors with projects and repairs. He will truly be missed by all his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Jan; 3 children, Sheldon (Tina) Steward, Roman Steward and his significant other Stacy Corona, Nadia (Steve) Stenulson; grandchildren, Shay Steward, Jazlyn Steward, Sabrie (Michael) Satterwhite, Roman Steward Jr., Alyssa Steward, Preston and Gavin Sanders; great grandchildren, Aubrey, Michael III, Alessia Satterwhite and a baby girl on the way, Sophia Satterwhite; step-grandchildren, Tyler and Kolbe Mangruen; sisters, Marva (James) Coleman, Carolyn (Tommy) Williams, Deborah (Gerald) Collins, Lacarthia Steward, Vanessa Stafford, Mechole (Wayne) Black, Phillipia (David) Phillips, aunt Sarah, uncle Cecil “Tim” and several cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous friends

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Novella.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 25, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd.
