Veronica J. “Vicky” Genovese, 67
Rockford- Veronica “Vicky”, 67, of Rockford passed away 2:08 pm Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Angels Grace Hospice in Oconomowoc, WI. Born December 30, 1947, to Frank and Neva (Sciacca) Genovese, Sr. of Rockford. Survivors include brother, Frank (Christine) Genovese, Jr. of Mukwonago, WI; nephew, Jeffery Genovese of Milwaukee, WI; and niece, Susan Genovese of Madison, WI, along with numerous cousins and special lifetime friends. Veronica “Vicky” graduated from West High School and attended Rockford College. She worked in many different fields of business, but found the “Art of Dance” was her first love. Veronica taught Ballroom Dancing for over 40 years in both Rockford and in Florida. While involved with Franchised Dance Studios in Florida, she received numerous awards and honors, along with national recognition for all of her achievements and accomplishments.
In her free time Veronica loved working in her flower gardens and thoroughly enjoyed her beautiful new landscaping. Also Veronica was an avid birdwatcher. She managed to create a huge photo album using her own pictures of all the backyard birds. She also enjoyed going to special functions and restaurants with her friends and cousins. She enjoyed daytrips, especially to Chicago to the theaters, Chicago shopping, and going to the casinos with her cousin. At the top of her wish list was to meet her favorite musical artist, Chayanne. After attending three concerts, she managed to meet him and have her picture taken with him.
The family would like to thank all her loyal and supportive dance students of many years. You were a very special part of her life. As a teacher, she was happy to have shared her love of the art of dance with you. We would also like to give a loving thank you to her special cousins Cheryl, Dorothy, and Carl and her dearest friends Barbara, Gail, Fred, Helen and Peggy who were always there for her and whom she considered her extended family. Veronica was predeceased by her parents; and grandparents James and Francis Sciacca of South Beloit, and Innocenzo and Nicolina (Ferro) Genovese of Rockford.
