Virginia Mannone

Virginia Mannone, 92, Rockford, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at East Bank Center in Loves Park. She was born April 14, 1922, in Rockford, the daughter of Anthony and Leonarda (Scarpetta) Pipitone. Virginia married Joseph Mannone in Rockford on April 6, 1940. He passed away in 1988. She worked for Nelson Knitting and then worked at Lillian’s Clothing Store on Rockton Av. for over 25 years. She was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
Survived by her daughter, Jeannie (Dan) Gilley, her son, Joseph (Sheryl) Mannone, and her daughter, Anna Maria (Larry) Giambeluca, all of Rockford; her grandchildren, Christopher (Tanya) Gilley, Jennifer Gilley, Michele Olson (Steve), Gina Mannone, Lynette Mannone, Maria (Jorge) Solano, Sarah Mannone and fiancé, Stephen Holgate, Paul Mannone, Teresa (Kevin) Sawyer, and Joe Giambeluca and fiancé, Erika Fritsch; her great-grandchildren, Anthony (Nicole), Andrea, Brittany, Ashley, Adriane, Kyle, Rachael, Giovanni, Emma, Charlie, Gracie, Gabriella, Arianna, Antonio, Rosa, Sofia, and baby Sawyer; her great great-grandchildren; Anthony, Makenzie, Dante, Malia, Raelynn, and Giovanni; her daughter-in-law, Catherine Mannone of Mesa and her brother-in-law, Jerry Sciascia; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Joseph; her son, Anthony; her parents; her sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Joseph Distefano; her sister, Annie Sciascia; and her brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Josephine “Pena” Pipitone.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, February 21, 2015 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Av, Rockford. Burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Friday, February 20, 2015, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd, and from 9:00 A.M. until 9:45 A.m. on Saturday in the Parish Hall at church. The Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home.
