W. Thomas Ross

W. Thomas Ross, 70, Roscoe, died Thursday, April 18, 2013 in Kindred Hospital, Sycamore. Born May 31, 1942 in Beloit, WI, son of John Donald and Doris Pauline (Bennett) Ross. Attended Beloit College and graduated with honors from the Univeristy of Illinois. Married Sally Schleicher in Rockford on May 6, 1967. Tom was a Certified Public Accountant who was the Winnebago County Auditor for almost 20 years. He had been president of the Auditors Association of Illinois, President of the Illinois of Association of County Officials and President and Trustee of the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund. He had been a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was presently a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. He participated in many community activities, including 100 Men Who Cook for 10 years. Tom loved to cook, even putting his way through the University of Illinois by cooking. He was completely devoted to his family and was the best dad and grandpa ever. He never missed any of his grandchildren's activities and the light of his life. Survivors include his wife, Sally; daughter, Kim (Mike) Jaeger, Rockton; son, Dan (Stacy) Ross, Rockford; the loves of his life, grandchildren, Paige and Haley Jaeger and Emily and Sam Ross; brothers, Alan (Charlotte) Ross, Rice Lake, WI and James Ross; sister, Susan Culver, Wilconsin; cousins, Kathy (Dave) Carter and Charlotte (Dick) Johnson both of Beloit. Predeceased by his parents, grandparents, nephew, Benny Schleicher and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Evelyn and Ben Schleicher. His family would like to thank the staffs of OSF St. Anthony Medical Center and Kindred Hospital for the competent and compassionate care he received over the past several months. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2013 in Mt. Olive Lutheran Church with Rev. Kenneth Krause officiating
