Wallace Barrette

Wallace Barrette, 83 of Rockford died Thursday, January 31, 2013 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. Born January 2, 1930 in Green Bay, WI the son of Joseph and Emma Barrette. A veteran of the United States Air Force serving in the Korean War. Married his loving wife Gloria Konop on July 9, 1954 in Spruce, WI. Wallace graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He spent the majority of his life until retirement at Barber Colemans in Rockford. A member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the VFW in Loves Park. Wallace also took time to enjoy square dancing, coin and stamp collecting, the outdoors and traveling. He took the most pride in raising his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife, Gloria of Rockford; son, Tim Barrette of Rockford; daughters, Holly Pohlman of Belvidere and Tammy (Lyle) Abbott of LaGrange, KY and grandchildren, Robert, William and Laurie. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant grandson, Tom; soninlaw, James Pohlman and sister, Betty Barrette. Funeral Mass Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 2400 Bell Ave. Entombment will be held in Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum, Winnebago. Visitation Friday, February 8 from 57 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. with a Christian Wake service to be recited at 7 p.m. in lieu of flowers memorials may be made St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
