Wallace "Wally" E. Halvorson

Wallace “Wally” E. Halvorson, 95, Rockford, passed away Friday, November 9, 2018, at Fairhaven Christian Home. He was born in Duluth, MN on October 9, 1923, the son of Anton and Annie (Gradin) Halvorson. Wally was a graduate of Duluth Central High School, class of ’41. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Navy. Wally married June Swanson on June 26, 1948, in Minneapolis, MN. She passed away on July 5, 2006. Wally graduated from the College of Advance Traffic and was as freight transportation specialist and an ICC Practitioner in Minneapolis, MN. He later worked for the Rockford Area Chamber of Commerce retiring in 1990 after almost 25 years. Wally was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church for many years, and a lifetime member of the YMCA Retired Men’s Club, a member of the American Legion and the Amvets.
Survived by his son, Dr. Scott (Sue) Halvorson of Highland, Il; his grandchildren, Jonathan and Jennifer Halvorson; his great-granddaughter, Alice E. Forsdike; his son-in-law, Terry Tucker. Predeceased by his wife, June, his daughter, Shelley Tucker, and sister, Vivian Fraser.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 3300 Rural St. Rockford with Reverend Len Hoffman officiating. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until 10:45 A.M. on Wednesday at the church. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory Mulford Chapel, 1860 S.
