Beloved Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather, Brother, Treasured Friend

Walter R. Dick Peters, 79, of Rockford, passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, March 2, 2011. Born to Walter G. and Bertha (Miner) Peters on April 13, 1931 in Garden Prairie.nbsp; A resident of Rockford, Dick graduated from Rockford West High School in 1949. He then served in the Air Force, stationed in Weisbaden, Germany.nbsp; Hi-Grade Excavating Company was founded by Walter G. Peters in 1943 where Dick and his brother, Roger worked until his fathers passing in 1961. Dick and Roger then became co-owners of Hi-Grade Excavating Company where he continued to work up until his passing.

Dick was a dedicated, baptized servant of Jehovah God for the past 53 years, and attended the Rockford North Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses.nbsp; He was an avid fisherman, coin, and pocket watch collector who also loved to play cards with his card club of 40 years and enjoyed tending his garden every summer. The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the brothers and sisters who spent time with him, fixed a meal for him, included him in their family activities, and kept him active since his wifes passing in 2008. He is survived by his daughter, Linda (Bill) Piccirilli, sons, Steven (Marianne) Peters, and Brian (Renae) Peters;nbsp; grandchildren Erin and Joseph Piccirilli, Nikki (Richard) Jarrett, Kristi Peters, Steffani Peters, Nicole (Jim) Rose, Kelly (Mike)Henry, Lindsay and Collin Peters; great grandchildren Robert James Rose, and Haley Marie Jarrett; sister Nancy (Stan) Bouma, and brother Roger (Beverly) Peters; mother-in-law Ruth Adams; sisters-in-law Dorothy Hoffman and Betty Peters; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends Elroy and Sandy Hennes. nbsp;Predeceased by wife Patricia, parents Walter G. and Bertha Peters, brothers Ronald and Gary Lee Peters, sister Emma Breeding and nephew Randy Peters.

Service will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, March 8 at the North Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses, 3645 W. Riverside Blvd., with Denis Strand conducting the service. Burial will be in Wilwood Burial Park. Visitation will be from 4 -8pm Monday, March 7 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Memorial s may be made to the family.
