Walter L. Goebbert, 79Rockford-Walter L. Goebbert, 79 of Rockford died Friday, June 10, 2011 at River Bluff Nursing Home. Born October 27, 1931 in Arlington Heights, IL to Walter H. and Elfrieda (Geffe) Goebbert. Married Nancy Glon in Crown Point, IN on March 30, 1954. Walter served in the US Air Force before joining the Chicago Police department. Retired as Sergeant in 1990 after 34 years. Member of the American Legion No.207. Walter enjoyed many good times at the cabin up north. Survivors; Wife of 57 years, Nancy of Rockford; Mother, Elfrieda Goebbert of Arlington Heights; Children; Michael (Michele) Goebbert of Pecatonica and Patti (Stewart) Tihinen of McHenry; Beloved Parpie to; Rebecca (Jeff) Pringey, Joseph Goebbert, Joshua Goebbert all of Rockford, Mellissa Tihinen of New York City, Paul (Kate ) Frapolly and Deana (Kevin) Clark of Ohio of McHenry; Great-grandchildren, Brian, Jordyn, Logyn and Lucas Frapolly, Morgyn and Maggie; Brothers, Roger (Shirley) Goebbert of Huntley, IL and Gordon (Nancy) Goebbert of Algonquin, Predeceased by his father and sister Marcella Calhoun. Funeral Service 1pm on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory 1860 S. Mulford with Pastor Jerry DeMond River Bluff Chaplain officiating. Visitation from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home. Visitation also from 12 to 12:45 pm Thursday at the funeral home.
