William "Bill" H. Coe

William “Bill” H. Coe, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 90 on Friday May 3, 2019. Bill married the love of his life Marguerite Allain on September 11, 1948. They were together for over 70 years. They had three children, and have seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Bill retired from Sundstrand as an Aerospace Engineer. He had previously been employed as a Certified Value Engineer for National Lock and for Atwood. Over this time he was the lead engineer on projects that led to over ten patents.

Bill moved to Rockford from Chicago in 1956. He was an active member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church for 26 years and St. Rita Catholic Church for 32 years. He was a member of the St. Bernadette’s Senior Association and Rockford American Legion Post 1207. Bill enjoyed fishing, family vacations, church related activities, and visiting with friends. He will be dearly missed.

Bill was born August 3, 1928 in Milwaukee, WI, son of William Henry Coe and Marybelle Brown. He graduated from Lane Technical High School in Chicago in 1947 and earned his bachelor’s degree at Allied Institute of Technology in 1956. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Surviving relatives include his loving wife, Marguerite A. Coe; children, William “Bill” (Theresa) Coe, Jeanne Coe, Timothy (Lisa) Coe; grandchildren, Nicholas (Kim) Reeg, Melissa (Sebastian) Foroutan, Daniel, Breanna, Ryan, Madison and Jenna Coe; great-grandson, Dominic and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and sisters, Helen, Betty, Alice and Marian.

A Gathering of Family & Friends will be held from 10 – 11 am Tuesday, May 14, at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Dr., Rockford, IL 61109. This will be immediately followed by a Memorial Mass at 11 am and military honors. Private family inurnment will conclude at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family of William Coe for a memorial to be established.
