William "Bill" Roger Anderson

William Roger “Bill” Anderson, 84, Rockford, passed away Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. He was born May 8, 1930, in Rockford, the son of Julius and Edith (Carlson) Anderson. Bill was an Air Force veteran serving during the Korean Conflict. He was self-employed as a carpenter for many years. Bill married Edna Neff on July 7, 1951. She passed away in June, 1983. He then married Carole Larson on September 22, 1984. Bill was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church and built many of the wooden items that are in the church. He served on the Cherry Valley Township board for many years. Bill enjoyed his many fishing trips to Canada, was a bee keeper, and enjoyed making his own wine. But most of all, Bill loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survived by his wife Carole of Rockford; his sons, Roger Anderson of Machesney Park and Randy (Nancy) Anderson of Chana; his daughter Kathie (Gene) Barnhart of Florida; 20 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, his brother, Dean (Dorothy) Anderson and his sister, Charlene (James) Barrett both of Columbus, WI.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 24, 2015, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 2715 S. Mulford Rd. Private burial in Scandinavian Cemetery at later date. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until service time on Saturday at the church.
