William G. "Bill" Boales, Jr.

William G. ”Bill” Boales, Jr.,86, of Rockford, Illinois, formerly of North Caldwell, New Jersey, passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at Wesley Willows Care Center following a long illness. He was born January 19, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of William G. and Marian (Rose) Boales, Sr. Bill graduated from Grosse Pointe High School, attended University of Missouri and graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration and was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Bill served in the military as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Third Air Force and was stationed in England and Texas. Bill enjoyed 63 years of marriage to his wife, Charlotte. The couple resided in North Caldwell, New Jersey, where they raised their two children. His career as a sales engineer spanned 40 years in the commercial air conditioning and mechanical equipment industry. He was an active member of the ASHRAE organization. Bill was an active member of his community, including his church, First Presbyterian Church of Caldwell in New Jersey, where he served as an Elder and member of the Building and Grounds Committee. Bill served as a leader in local Boy Scout organizations and actively participated in the management of the Camp Wyanoke Association and Commission for over 25 years. He enjoyed a life abundantly enriched by a wide variety of interests, including philately, theater, classical music and jazz. Bill’s love of the outdoors included hiking in the Adirondack Mountains, beach combing and fishing. After retiring, he enjoyed summering in Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
Survived by his loving wife, Charlotte, of Rockford; his daughter, Katharine Langan of Rockford; his son Richard (Joanna) Boales of Clarksville, Maryland; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; his sister, Sidney Ann Whelan. Predeceased by his parents, his sister, Sarah, and his son-in-law, James Langan.
Memorial service will be held at 11 A.M., Thursday, June 4, 2015, in the Chapel at Wesley Willows Retirement Home, 4141 N. Rockton Av. Rockford, IL.
