Willis E. Walker

Willis E. Walker, 87, Rockford, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2015, in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center. He was born February 6, 1928, in Boston, MA, the son of Willis and Elsie (Sowerby) Walker. Willis was a veteran of the Navy serving from 1945-1949. He married Shirley A. Chellberg in Worcester, MA on December 26, 1953. She passed away on July 4, 2014, in Rockford. Willis was an insurance agent for Independent order of Foresters. He was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church. Willis was a member of the IOF (International Order of Foresters), the Masonic Lodge, Freeport Consistory, and the Tebala Shrine.
Survived by his son, Craig (Dee) Walker of Belvidere; his daughter, Carol LaGoy of Waterville, New York; his grandchildren, Carmen Nease and Seth (Shanea Johns) LaGoy; his great-grandchildren, Sumer Walker, Leah DeCarr, and Peyton LaGoy. Predeceased by his parents and his wife of 60 years, Shirley.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Reverend Ken Schmoyer officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be from 3:00 P.M. until time of service on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of America, 3815 N.
