Zigymond L. Bozym

Zigymond L. ""Ziggy"" Bozym, 91, a lifelong resident of Rockford, died on January 19, 2009 at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Ziggy was born April 7, 1917 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Albin and Veronica (Koncziewicz) Bozym. Ziggy married Evelyn H. Cramer on June 20, 1942 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Rockford. Ziggy attended Central High School and worked at O & H Foundry for 50 years and was a foreman until his retirement in 1983. He molded the Guilford High School Viking Emblem and many statues at Beloit College. Ziggy was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church for 22 years, a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church for 45 years, a member of the Holy Name Society at St. Mary Catholic Church, a 4th Degree member and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Polish Falcons Club and the Rockford Moose lodge. He was a two-time Golden Glove Champion, played baseball and was the manager at Blackhawk Athletic Club, and was an avid Bears fan and a diehard Cubs fan who always believed in ""next year"" . Ziggy loved to read and read every Louis LAmour book available. Ziggy is survived by his children, Michael (Marian) Bozym, Mary (John) Lynde, Patrick Bozym, Matthew (Judy) Bozym, D. Joseph (Sherry) Bozym and Kathryn Bozym-Craig; his grandchildren, Michael C. (Kellie) Bozym, Kevin (Darcy) Bozym, Mary Carolyn ""Carrie"" Bozym, Jim (Christine) Lynde, John R., II (Denita) Lynde, Rebecca (Alex) Tsimonidis, Patrick ""PJ"" (Jane) Bozym, Angie (Dave) Tisza, Sally (Martin) Gonzalez, Brian Bozym, Jim Bozym, Jenny Craig, Danielle Craig and Mark Salyer; his great-grandchildren, Adam, Jacob, Jayne, John III, Jenna, Kaylee, Xander, Nick, Alex, Anne, Andrew, Rachael, Kevin, Aiden, and Baby Allysen; his sister, Stella Myers and numerous nieces and nephews. Ziggy was predeceased by his parents, Albin and Veronica Bozym; his wife, Evelyn H. Bozym (January 6, 2000 his daughter, Ann Marie Bozym and his sisters, Albina Bozym and Edna Brodeski. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 22, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church followed by burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 21 from 5 7 P.M., with a rosary service at 6:30 P.M., at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. and on Friday from 9:30 10:15 A.M. at the church. Family and friends may
