Adelino Gianesin

Adelino "Eno" Gianesin, 82, died peacefully in his home May 28, 2014. He was born February 26, 1932 to Oreste and Mary (nee Grotto) Gianesin in Rockford, Ill., where he lived his entire life. He attended St. Anthony and St. Thomas schools.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the Fifth Armored Division.
As a young boy, Eno was a baseball pitcher for the Rockford City Leagues and was invited to try out for the Boston Braves. On October 20, 1956 he married Annette Stassi in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
He was an avid golfer and particularly enjoyed playing at Ingersoll Golf Course. When not on the course he could often be found gardening, working on his house, watching the Cubs lose, and spending as much time as possible with his eight grandchildren.
During many family vacations in northern Wisconsin and Minnesota, he could be found fishing on the lake with brothers-in-law Sam and George. Starting with their 25th wedding anniversary Eno and Annette enjoyed vacations to Italy to visit relatives.
Eno was employed by Warner Lambert as a mechanic for 34 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Annette; children Mary (Tim) Ferguson, Anne (Steve) Herkert, Paul (MaryAnn) Gianesin, and John (Abby) Gianesin; loving grandchildren, Laura and Claire Ferguson; Stephanie, Ellen, and Nina Herkert; Isabella and Luca Gianesin; and Grace Gianesin; sister Aurelia (Jim) Higdon, brother Maurice Gianesin; several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, sisters Orelia Gianesin and Irene Minnick, and brother Louis Gianesin.
Funeral mass to be held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June3, 2014 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with the Franciscan Friars officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, June 2, 2014, 5-7 p.m., Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, with the rosary recited at 7 p.m. The visitation will continue at the church from 9 until 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday. Express online condolences at www.fitzgeraldfh.com
