Alphonse Von Rotz

Alphonse a?Ala? R. Von Rotz,81, Rockford, joined the choir of angels on Saturday, February 9, 2013, in Presence St. Ann Center.nbsp; He was born October 10, 1931, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, the son of Alfonse J. and Beatrice M. (Kilmer) Von Rotz.nbsp; Al lived in Rockford since 1953, coming here from Fond du Lac.nbsp; He married Mary Virginia a?Gingera? Feuerstein in Beloit, Wisconsin, on February 14, 1953. She passed away in Rockford on February 13, 2011.nbsp; Al worked at Barnes Drill Co. for 25 years.nbsp; He was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church.nbsp; Al sang with the Svea Soner Chorus (an all male singing chorus) since 1966, and was a past president. Al loved to sing and in addition to Svea Soner, he sang in the choirs at Bethesda Covenant Church, St. Rita Catholic Church, St. Edward Catholic Church, and with the Classic Chorale.

Survived by his children, Richard A. (Cinda) Von Rotz of Memphis, Tennessee, Diane M. (Robert) Kacvinsky of Lincoln, Nebraska, Thomas J. (Debra) Von Rotz and Susan M. (Philip) Morand, both of Rockford; 10 grandchildren; 8 greatgrandchildren; and his brother, Charles (Jane)nbsp;Von Rotz.nbsp; Predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Ginger; his grandson, David Kacvinsky; and his brothers, John and Donald.

Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am Thursday, February 14, 2013, at St. Rita Catholic Church, 6254 Valley Knoll Dr. with the Reverend David Peck officiating. Entombment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with the Rosary recited at 7:45 pm.nbsp; Visitation will also be from 10:00 am until 10:45 am on Thursday at the church.
