Ann Lois James

Ann Lois James of Bethalto, IL and formerly from Machesney Park, IL, passed away on July 22 ,2025 at the age of 83. She was born on December 17, 1941, in Freeport, IL. She was a 1960 graduate of Polo Community High School.

Ann was an avid crocheter, making blankets for her great nieces and nephews and her granddaughter for their graduation from High School. She donated many crocheted baby hats to Rockford Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by her daughters; Amy (Greg) Nelson and Jennifer (Chris) Jones; and her granddaughter Gabrielle Nelson. She was also a cherished aunt and great aunt to many beloved nieces and nephews.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband Bruce James, her parents Herman and Ruth Giles, her brother, William Giles; and her sisters Betty (Duane) Herbig and Sandra (Larry) Hendershot.

Services to be held at 11:30 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 3910 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford, IL 61103 on August 2, 2025, with a visitation from 10-11:30 with the service following. A private burial service will be at Silver Creek Reformed Cemetery, German Valley.
