Anne T. Schwebke

April 3, 1931 — June 27, 2026

Rockford

Anne T. Schwebke ,95, peacefully departed this life on June 27, 2026, knowing she was loved by family and friends. Fr. Oldershaw blessed and anointed Momma, gently reassuring her that when she was ready, God would welcome her to Heaven to be reunited with loved ones.

Anne was born in West Haven, CT on April 3, 1931. She met Eugene Schwebke while traveling on a train from Chicago to New York City. Who would have ever thought that their chance meeting would spark a love affair that lasted over 50 years? They married in 1952 and lived in Belvidere, IL for several years. Later they moved to Rockford, IL where they raised their six children. She was a devoted wife and mother. While dad was away working hard to support the family, her job was to tend to the house and children. She taught us the value of good manners and the importance of treating others with kindness and respect.

Anne’s faith and family meant everything to her. She continually prayed for all of us and for peace on earth. She would say peace starts in the family. Her favorite song was, Let There be Peace on Earth.

Our mother was happiest caring for our father and all of us. When dad retired they enjoyed traveling together. She was an avid reader and gardener. She was a whiz at doing the daily newspaper crossword puzzle and crypto quote. Momma always had a large jigsaw puzzle on a table and we knew anytime we walked by it we were to put a piece in. This love of puzzle making continued into her much later years and to this day decorate her daughter, Sandy’s home.

For the past nine years Anne lived in Skokie with her daughter, Sandy, and her son in law, David and family. She soon developed a new “village” of loving friends, extended family members and neighbors. Even the local drug store workers would greet her and ask about her whenever we would stop in without her. Though reserved, mom had a special way about her that was genuine and kind. People loved her for that and cared so much for her.

Anne is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Terry and LeeAnn Schwebke, Nicole and Kris Wall (Khloe, Kinley) Nathan Schwebke, Faith and Clayton Simonson, Kara Jane and Akira Wada (Charlotte, Josie, Ollie), Betsey and Matt Pautz (Emmeline) Sandy and David Dotson, Wendell and Trinh Brewer (Noah and Jacob) David Dotson, Jr., Michael Dotson (fiance Laila), Daniel Dotson, Samuel Dotson, Sharon and John Loos,, Ryan and Cassie Loos (Romie, Benny), Kathy and Tracy Roberts, Karin Frickson, Jerry Zdeb (dear friend). Anne was predeceased by her parents Ernest and Margaret Taborelli, her sisters, Virginia, Peggy and Renee, her loving husband Eugene, sweet dog Muffy, and son-in-law Leonard Frickson.

Services will be held at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, 1806 S. Mulford Rd in Rockford, IL on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. Visitation-10:00 am until time of a Prayer Service led by Fr. Cortes at 11:00 am. Burial will conclude in Belvidere Cemetery.
