Annetta “Lena” Frisella 91 of Rockford passed away Friday August 9, 2013 in Rosewood Care Center. She was born June 17, 1922 in Rockford, the daughter of Sam and Josephine Giglio. She married Joseph Frisella on July 26, 1941 in Rockford. Joseph predeceased her on August 18, 1991. She was a member of St Anthony Church, St Mary Club, St Ambrogio Club and Sacred Heart. Lena was very well known for her amazing cooking and baking. Never needing to measure a thing. She also was recognized by the Italian American Association for her baking and cooking. She had several recipes published in the Festa Italiano Cookbook. When you went to Lena’s home you never left hungry. She had a big heart. She opened her heart and home to all. She was also well known for her St. Joseph Altar. She leaves us many fun loving and precious memories of gatherings with her family and friends Survivors include her children Benny (Tami) of Loves Park, Sam (Linda L.) of Florida, Joe (Linda M.) of Florida, John (Judy) of Rockford and Marge Frisella Bacino of Rockford. 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Two sisters, Lillian Sola and Lucy Ricotta. Numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Joseph. Grandson, Benny Michael. Three brothers, Dominic, Vince and Mario. Sister, Mary Hoff. Funeral mass at 10am Wednesday August 14, 2013 in St Anthony Church with the Franciscan Friars officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation from 4pm until 7pm Tuesday August 13, 2013 in Fitzgerald Funeral home 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Visitation also from 9am until 9:45 Wednesday in the church.
