Antoinette T. “Toni” (Grespan) Gulotta, 91, of Roscoe, IL, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 26, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Toni was born June 12, 1934, in Rockford, IL, to Nemo and Theresa (Cooling) Grespan. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School, Ellis Elementary, Lincoln Junior High, and graduated from East High School in 1952. After briefly attending nursing school, she worked for five years at the telephone company.
In 1955, she met her husband, Joseph M. Gulotta, and they were married on February 4, 1956, at St. James Catholic Church in Rockford. Together they raised three children. During those years, Toni also attended Rock Valley Junior College.
Toni dedicated much of her life to volunteering. She helped at St. Peter’s Grade School, Roosevelt Junior High, and was active in both Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She later worked part-time for 22 years at Chas. V. Weise Company (Bergner’s), retiring to care for her husband until his passing in 2000.
She continued her service through the RSVP volunteer program, contributing to many organizations including the Coronado Theatre, Burpee Art Museum, Rockford Arts Council, and Rockford Rescue Mission. Her kindness and commitment to others earned her many awards and, more importantly, lasting friendships.
Toni loved time with her family, reading, western movies, crossword puzzles, and watching Jeopardy. She especially enjoyed making latch hook rugs.
She will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother whose kindness, warmth, and positivity touched everyone she met.
She is survived by her children, Michael (Natalie) Gulotta, Joseph N. (Alice) Villareal-Gulotta, and Susan (Patrick) Marron; grandchildren, Joseph L., Landon, Matt, Amber, and Tom; great-grandchildren, Maxwell, Emilie, and Tucker; and her brother, Louis (Rita) Grespan. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to Heartland Hospice and Toni’s caregivers for their compassionate care.
Services will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the Cathedral of St. Peter, 1243 N. Church St., Rockford, IL. Visitation from 9:30–11:00 a.m. with Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Winnebago, IL.
