Barbara E. Adam

Barbara Elaine Adam, 84, of Rockford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon, IL. She was born on June 6, 1940, in Drummond, Wisconsin, the daughter of Leslie and Mary Jane (Baker) Talley.

Barb graduated from Rockford East High School and later from Rockford University, where she obtained her degree in nursing. She was a dedicated stay-at-home mom for many years before beginning her nursing career working for the State of Illinois Health Department where she investigated infectious disease outbreaks. In addition to her nursing career, Barb was an artist and musician. She played the cello with grace and passion, was a season ticket holder to the Rockford Symphony, and practiced yoga for decades. She once traveled with her yoga buddies by train to attend a yoga class at Glacier National Park with a beloved former teacher.

Barb was a devoted member of Court Street United Methodist Church and a member or the University Club. She was also a former member of Brook Road Methodist Church.

She is survived by her children Jayne (Jerry) DeRango, Jon Juhlin, Jane (Darryl Schneider) Adam, and Susan (John Halvorson) Adam; her grandchildren, Lauren (Kevin) Westmoreland, Julia DeRango, and Kailem Adam; and her great-grandchildren, Robert, Julian, and Linnea. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews Tammy, Jenny, Kathy, Cindy, Mary, Shari, Tricia, Brian, Teresa, and Lisa. Barb was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Warren Adam; her former husband and the father of her children, Jan Juhlin; and her siblings, Marion, Marjorie, and Robert.

A visitation will take place on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Court Street United Methodist Church, 215 N Court Street, Rockford IL, 61103.
