Barry B. Markin, 59 of Rockford, died Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013 in his home after a long battle with illness. Born June 23, 1954 in Rockford the son of Robert F. and Doris J. Markin. Graduated from Winnebago High School and attended classes at Northwestern University. Served in the United States Army from 1972-1979. Married his loving wife, LuAnn M. Hammer in Rockford on March 12, 1993. Worked for the Rockford Police Department from 1981-1999 as a traffic investigator and had received state certification as a traffic accident investigator. Barry began his own drywall and plastering business and was active from 1999-2009. He then went to work for Swedish American Hospital in Belvidere as a security officer from 2009-2011. He was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church and the American Legion, Rockton post 0032. Barry was a kind and caring husband, father and grandpa and brother, he will be missed dearly.
Survivors include his loving wife, LuAnn of Rockford; 3 sons, Daniel of Shreveport, LA; David (Sheryl) of Salt Lake City, UT and Joshua of Columbia, MO; grandchildren, Lorelei, Charles and Elisia; sisters, Linda (Gary) Budsberg of Monroe, WI and Yvonne Sandbergh of Winnebago and several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Robert, Jon and Randall.
Funeral service Monday, Sept. 9, 2013 at 11: 00 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home and Crematory, Mulford chapel 1860 S. Mulford Rd. with Pastor Bill Dahlberg of Salem Lutheran Church officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, Sept. 8 from 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home.
