Barton G. "Bart" Naglestad

October 4, 1941 — October 2, 2025

Rockford

Barton G. “Bart” Naglestad, beloved father, grandfather, partner, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on October 2, 2025, due to complications from a fall. His passing, just two days shy of his 84th birthday, came as a great shock to his family and friends, who mourn the loss of his presence while cherishing the many memories he leaves behind.

Born on October 4, 1941, Bart was the only son of Vernon G. and Elvera N. Naglestad (Carlson). He married Judith A. Naglestad (Worsley) in 1964, with whom he shared many years of marriage and partnership before her passing in 2011. He then met his fiancée, Dana Rogers, who remained with him until the end.

Bart graduated from Rockford East High School in 1959, where he was a standout athlete, excelling in football. He later obtained his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater in 1964.

He began a career teaching middle school in the Quad Cities before continuing as an educator in Silverdale, Washington. Returning to the Midwest, Bart briefly worked with United States Vitamin before establishing his own company, Naglestad Real Estate, which he and Judy operated together for several years. In 1983, Bart shifted to a permanent career in pharmaceuticals, joining Smith Kline and French (later Glaxo), where he excelled as a sales representative and ultimately retired as an Executive Sales Representative in 1999.

Retirement brought Bart the freedom to pursue his passions, especially his love of the outdoors. He invested countless hours in hunting and fishing, activities that brought him joy and fulfillment. After the loss of Judy, Bart reconnected with his high school classmate, Dana Rogers (Alfredson). For the past 14 years, Dana and Bart shared a loving partnership, side by side through life’s journey.

Bart will be remembered for his warmth, sense of humor, dedication to family, and love of the outdoors and travel. His legacy lives on in the lives of those he loved and who loved him in return.

Bart is survived by his fiancée, Dana Rogers of Rockford, IL; his three children: Jeff Naglestad and his wife Beatriz of Chester, N.J., Stacy Lysne and her husband Paul of Andover, MN, and Tad Naglestad and his wife Duangkamol (Demi) of Chicago, IL. He was a proud grandfather to Blanca Naglestad of Raeford, N.C., Jessica Lysne of Haslett, MI, Julia Lysne of Minneapolis, MN, and Christopher Naglestad of Chicago, IL. He is predeceased by his parents and his wife, Judy.
