Berneice Severine

Berneice Severine, 98, Rockford, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 23, 2021, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 11, 1923, in Richland Center, WI, the daughter of Earl and Willa (Essex) Johnson. Berneice married Myron “Mike” Patch on September 29, 1941. He passed away May 20, 1957. She then married Gustav Severine on May 28, 1966. He passed away December 4, 1994. After she left the farm she worked for J.C. Penny Co. in Richland Center until she moved to Rockford and worked at Amrock Corp and later Broadway Camera until her retirement. Berneice was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church for many years. Berneice was a former member of the Svithiod Club. She enjoyed working in her garden and going dancing with friends at the Moose Club in Belvidere. She loved to sing and play the organ.
Survived by her daughter, Mavis (Mike) Eckman of St. Charles; her daughter-in-law, Sharon Sewell Patch; her 6 grandchildren, Steve (Michelle) Patch, Heidi (Mike) Langman, Stacey (Rob) Smith, Scott (Kayrn) Eckman, Sarah (Adam) Ochs, and Susan (Bob) Westwater; her 9 great-grandchildren, Madison and Mitchell Langman, Kayden, Jacob, Luke, and Grace Eckman, Blake Smith, Maverick and Murphy Ochs; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, her son, Don Patch, her 2 brothers and their wives, Maynard (Dorothy) Johnson and Edward (June) Johnson; her 3 sisters and their husbands, Kitty (Frank) Martorana, Mary (Ray) Babcock, and Jenny (Ted) Shelton.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 28, 2021, at St. Edward Catholic Church, 3004 11 St. Burial in Scandinavian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until time of Mass on Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
