Bessie A. Stanis

Bessie A. (White) Stanis, 89, of Rockford, died at 4:45 PM, Thursday, November 22, 2007 in Provena St. Anne Center. Born August 16, 1918, in Bagley, WI, the daughter of Thomas and Alta (Millen) White. She married William C. Stanis on June 29, 1936 in Patch Grove, WI. He preceded her in 1993. Bessie lived most of her life in Rockford. She worked for Chas V. Weise Co., now Bergners, since 1982, retiring after 15 years of service. Attended Court Street United Methodist Church where she was active in the choir and also taught Sunday School. Survivors include children, DuWayne (Nancy) Stanis , James (Julia) Stanis both of Rockford and Marlene Nelson of Belvidere; grandchildren, Scott Stanis, Stacey (William) Howard, Laura (David) Schofield, James Stanis and Greg Nelson; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey, Liam, Grianne and Oisin; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents; sisters, Hazel Boldt and Margie Loy. Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N. Rockton Ave. Memorials may be made to Northern Illinois Hospice or Court Street United Methodist Church. To
