Carole A. Winking

Sadly, Carole passed away on Monday, August 14th at her home.

Carole was born January 18th, 1947, to Frank and Phyllis DeAngelis in Rochester New Hampshire. She grew up in various parts of New York including Ossining, the Bronx, New York City, and finally Westbury. She graduated from SUNY Farmingdale in 1966. Carole later moved to Rockford in 1975.

She met Thomas Winking in 1988 while they were both volunteering at Contact, a crisis hotline to help others in need. She and Tom married on November 17th, 1990. Carole and Tom enjoyed traveling to destinations like Mexico, the Virgin Islands, and France. She loved gardening, cooking for others, and most of all taking care of and spending time with family and loved ones.

Carole is survived by her husband Tom, her sons Adam and Jeffrey Grennan and their families. She is also survived by her stepchildren Amy Diaz and Andrew Winking and their families, her sister-in-law Sally Johnson and husband Bob. She was Nana to five grandchildren.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Phyllis DeAngelis, and her sister Diane.

She was a loving wife, mother, and friend. She will be missed so very much.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at 12:00 p.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd. Rockford, IL 61108. The burial will conclude in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
