Carole Sue Hurd, 81, passed away September 11th. She was born June 12, 1943, to Earl and Ivy “Polly” (Perrett) Hurd. She graduated from West High School in 1961 and North Central College in 1965. She then went on to obtain a Master’s degree in Spanish from Illinois State University and a Master’s in Library and Information Science from Indiana University. She worked for several library systems throughout the country, retiring from the Hennepin County Library System in Minnesota as a Reference Librarian. Carole’s love of learning and reading gave her a broad base of knowledge. She was the person everyone wanted on their team for family Trivial Pursuit games. She never missed sending birthday greetings to friends and relatives.
She will be missed by her siblings; Dr. David Hurd (Cathy) of Winston-Salem N.C., Diane Risley (Dave) of Rockford, Patricia Withers (Mike) of Peoria and Pamela Griswold (Bill)of Round Rock Texas; her sister-in-law Joan Hurd; and her 12 nieces and nephews and 27 great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother John E. Hurd and nephew John D. Hurd. Cremation rites have been accorded. A private family gathering to celebrate her life will take place at a later date.
