Carolyn S. Elliott

Carolyn was an ardent, devoted teacher loved by her students for 47 years.

After retiring from teaching at Rockford Public Schools, she became an Adjunct Professor at Judson College. She was born, raised and graduated High School as Valedictorian in Paris, Illinois.

After graduating from University of Illinois and obtaining her Teachers certificate, she earned her Master's degree from Rockford College. Aside from teaching English, Carolyn developed a system using transparent colored acetate sheets to help students with reading difficulties.

Several professional organizations were important parts of her life. She served as President of the WCRTAI (Winnebago County Retired Teachers Association). She helped develop the Blanche Martin Scholarship program to award future Teachers college funds. She developed a Business Directory for the Rockford Chamber of Commerce that received international recognition.

As an active supporter, Carolyn served on the Boards of Girl Scouts, Rockford Art Association and Rock Valley College Friends of the Library.

Carolyn loved to entertain and socialize. Moving into Peterson Meadows Senior Center was the perfect community to enjoy activities with many friends.

Survived by her husband, son and his wife, 2 Sisters, 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Peterson Meadows Senior Living Center, 6401 Newburg Rd. Rockford, IL 61108.
