Caterina “Rina” Milone, age 83 of Rockford, IL, peacefully passed away on August 7, 2025.
She was born April 19, 1942 in Corleone, Sicily to Giacomo & Marianna DiMiceli. Rina was known to family and friends as a sweet, vibrant, and resourceful soul—truly a jack of all trades whose industrious hands and loving heart touched all who knew her.
Caterina was a phenomenal seamstress paying meticulous attention to every stitch, measurement, and fabric detail ensuring a flawless and professional finish in all her work. She was an extraordinary chef and baker. Many friends and family experienced Caterina’s delicious cooking and baked goods and she created so many memories with those around her table. Her great homemade bread carried a special warmth and flavor and was enjoyed by many generations.
Caterina was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She took immense pride in her family, always being there and cheering on her grandchildren as they participated in sports and other activities. Later in life, she enjoyed the presence of her great grandchildren’s visits and cherished in holding, hugging, and kissing on the babies.
Caterina was a lifelong member of St. Anthony of Padua Church. She was very devoted to her faith. She lived a life that honored God in all aspects, demonstrating His love.
Caterina is survived by her daughters, Lucia (Marshall) Hauge of Rockford, Anna (Frank) Calvanese of Rockford; grandchildren: Nicholas Marvin (Kiya) Hauge, Michael Vincenzo Hauge, Vincenzo Calvanese and Gabriella Calvanese; great -grandchildren: Kaiden Rae Hauge, Jocelyn Marie Hauge,William Vincenzo Hauge and Viola Caterina Hauge, sister Maria DiMiceli and Brother in law Frank (Maria) Milone.
Preceding Caterina in death was her husband, Vincenzo. Her parents, Giacomo and Marianna DiMiceli, Brothers, Calogero DiMiceli, Bernardo DiMiceli, Pasquale DiMiceli, Salvatore DiMiceli and sister Giovanna Albanese.
The family would like to thank her devoted caregivers, Olivia, Cathy, Tessa, and Val for their compassionate care. Thank you also to Heather Hartman and her team at Jet Health Care for their amazing care. Thank you to Northern Illinois Hospice and especially Nurse Drew who offered wonderful care, encouragement and support.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 18, 2025 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1010 Ferguson St. in Rockford, with Father Carl Beekman officiating.
Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the Church on Monday, Aug. 18. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
