Cecilia Gemma Fay

Cecilia "Cec" Gemma (Frigo) Fay, age 80, of Rockford, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

Cecilia was born and raised in Lena, Wisconsin, the daughter of an Italian cheese maker, Louis and Giustina (Carollo) Frigo. She attended high school and college in Duluth, Minnesota. Cecilia then graduated from the University of Miami with a Nursing degree in 1967. She worked in Nursing for 40 years which included working as a cardiac telemetry nurse and following that, she worked as a rehab nurse. Cecilia married Thomas Lee Fay on January 28, 1967 in Miami Florida. She was devoted to her faith and a dedicated member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Rockford.

Cecilia is survived by her husband, Tom; son, Phillip; two sisters that are Catholic nuns, Sr. Marianna, C.S.A., Sr. M. Luigi, C.S.A.; brother, Jim Frigo as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; brothers, Bruno, John, Fr. Martin and Joseph Frigo.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 4401 Highcrest Rd. Rockford, IL  61107.
