Cheryl A. McVeigh

Cheryl Ann McVeigh, 65, passed away unexpectedly on January 27, 2024. She was born on February 7, 1958, in Rockford, the daughter of Arthur W. Knutson and Ilene M. Selgestad. She married Bradley “Brad” McVeigh on December 9, 1988, in Las Vegas, NV.

Cheryl loved weekend trips to the casino with Bradley, and playing bingo with friends where she was always “one away” from a big win. She was the mom that was always in the front row cheering on her sons no matter the sport, and even keeping the score book when they started coaching. She cherished the time spent with her grandkids, spending Sundays watching the Green Bay Packers and spending every summer day she could relaxing outside in the pool.

She is survived by her husband, Brad; sons, Alen (Shannon) and Steven; grandchildren, Ava and Rowan; brother, Sam; nieces, Cassie and Sarah; and nephews, Charles, Chris, Cole, and Robert. She is predeceased by her parents.

A funeral service will be on Friday, February 9, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Road, Rockford, IL 61108. A visitation will be prior to the service starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial at Willwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
